The New Orleans Mission
Text
Founded in 1989, The New Orleans Mission first started providing shelter, food, and religious guidance to a growing population of homeless men. Financially supported by donations from local residents, churches, organizations, and corporations, The Mission strives to reduce the number of men, women, and children living on the streets. Today, The Mission is the largest faith-based private service provider to homeless people in New Orleans and the economically disadvantaged residents of Central City. Currently, The Mission is under construction to complete renovations that will help it operate more efficiently and provide an inviting environment to the homeless. The newly completed façade recreates the historic storefront of a former furniture store.
