In 2014, according to the findings and recommendations of ESI, RTA proposed a plan to modify the streetcar line route with minimal impact to human remains by exhuming only those individuals buried within the locations of those new poles required for the extension of the exisiting overhead catenary system. According to Louisiana State Law, these locations would be decommissioned as a cemetery, and the ten burials that represented thirteen individuals located within them would be exhumed by ESI and brought to the FACES lab for study and preparation for reburial. They were reburied in a vault in Charity Hospital Cemetery No. 1 in 2021.
