The bayonet illustrated here was probably the most distinctive of all of the artifacts recovered from the privy at 1304 Howard/LaSalle Street. This knife-style bayonet would mount on a rifle or musket and likely used as military gear. The initial report on this object assumed it dated from the U.S. Civil War.
