The faunal assemblage from early contexts was marked by the occurrence of numerous wild and/or native taxa, especially wildfowl and birds. Among the wild species identified were Amia calva (bowfin), Anas platyrhynchos (mallard), Aplodinotus grunniens (freshwater drum), Archosargus probatocephalus (sheepshead), Aix sponsa (wood duck), Anas acuta (Northern pintail duck), Aythya affinis (lesser scaup), Aythya valisineria (canvas duck), Scolopax minor (American woodcock), Lepisosteus spp. (gar), Micropogon undulatus (Atlantic croaker), and Sylvilagus aquaticus (swamp rabbit), alongside bone from more common species, including pig, cow, chicken, and turkey.
