In a fortuitous coincidence, the travelling exhibition “Kongo Across the Waters” was taking place at the New Orleans Museum of Art, and curators decided to feature the St. Peter Street Cemetery with a small separate installation, in addition to including the religious items from the 1984 excavations. NOMA also lent support to the reburial effort.
