Native American Pottery from Early Levels at 535 Conti

In deposits apparently predating European arrival in the Lower Mississippi Valley, archaeologists recovered small quantities of shell-tempered pottery, the clearest evidence so far recovered of indigenous settlement in the area that would become the French Quarter.
