Spelled "Gallatine" on this map, the two-block area is bounded on the west by Ursuline Street and the French Market (labeled Vegetable Market), on the east by Barracks Street where the US Mint building stands, on the north by Decatur Street, and on the south by North Peters Street. The gray portion in the lower section represents the Mississippi River.
