Harry Macarthy, "Songs and Ballads"

One of the only known lithographs of Macarthy appears here, on the cover of a collection of his most ardent Confederate songs. He is pictured with his wife Lottie Estelle, who often performed with him in New Orleans. Jules Lion, one of the most popular African American artists in New Orleans by the time of the Civil War, illustrated this cover and many other sheet music covers during the war.
