Built in 1940, this building served as the staff dining room for the employees of the United States Public Health Service Hospital, the National Leprosarium.
Commissioned Corps Officers of the USPHS and Civil Service employees had separate designated seating. Before the 1950s, black and white areas were segregated.

Today the National Hansen's Disease Museum is located in this building.
