General Andrew Jackson after the Battle of New Orleans

This image, reproduced numerous times and distributed to the masses, was produced by Goupil and Company, a French art dealership firm that flourished during the 19th century. Known primarily for Vincent Van Gogh's involvement as one of their dealers for a brief stint, the firm tapped into the emerging middle class interest in purchasing affordable art from the mid-19th century up until the early 20th century. This is only one of the images of Andrew Jackson that they distributed worldwide.
