Jefferson Park Race Track postcard

This postcard depicts the Jefferson Park Race Track which operated in the area known as Shrewsbury from 1917 to 1945. When racing was in season, it was a very popular destination along the O-K Line.

The track existed near the intersection of Jefferson Highway and Shrewsbury Road and was also serviced by the Illinois Central Railroad's passenger service. In 1946, the site was converted into the Jefferson Park residential subdivision which retains the oval shape of the race track.
